Don't Do What Dany Dick Does E-mail

Gather round, children.  Uncle SLC wants to tell you a story.

Once upon a time, there was a boy named Dany.  Dany was very sad.

But no one knew that Dany was sad.  After all, he was a very lucky boy who got to go to a very special school we'll call "Ottawa" and had lots of very special school friends we'll call "Senators".  He was a very good student, the best in his class actually, and everyone in the whole town loved him.  The principal of the special school, who we'll call "Principal Bryan", made sure to give him lots and lots of really fun and shiny things just to make sure he was happy and would stay for a long, long time.  Principal Bryan liked Dany very much.  And Dany said "I like you very much too!  Of course I'll stay for a long, long time.  I promise!"  And Dany looked happy.

It wasn't always like that for Dany.  Oh, no.  You see, Ottawa wasn't Dany's first special school.  He first tried to go to another school, we'll call "Atlanta".  But something awful happened there that made Dany feel very, very bad.  So one day, Dany, who didn't want to feel bad anymore, asked the Atlanta principal if he could find Dany a new special school.  And the Atlanta principal did just that, because he didn't want Dany to feel bad anymore either.  And that's how Dany came to Ottawa.  And Dany looked happy again.

But soon, Dany started feeling bad once more. A new teacher had come to Ottawa.  You see, the other teachers had let Dany do as he pleased and Dany got used to that.  If he didn't want to work hard enough in class, why that was okay.  Dany was special.  If he didn't feel like doing what his teachers asked of him...well, that was okay too.  Poor Dany, they thought.  He's so special.  He's been through so much.  We'll just leave him be so he stays happy.

And Dany was happy.  But after a couple of years, the whole school started performing so badly it wasn't such a special school anymore, and Principal Bryan had to fire those teachers.  And the new teacher didn't treat Dany the way the others had.  So one day, Dany went to see Principal Bryan...

"He's taking away my play time!" Dany complained to Principal Bryan.

"Well, that's because you're not completing your assignments on time." Principal Bryan explained.

"He's making me play with the slower kids!" Dany added.

"Maybe he thinks that would be a good way for the slower kids to learn from you. You're so much better than they are." Principal Bryan said.

"Well, I don't wanna!" Dany exclaimed.  "I wanna go to a new school!"

"Dany," Principal Bryan said softly, "you promised us you would stay for a long long time.  I gave you all of the shiny, really fun things you wanted.  And in exchange for that, you promised.  See?  I have it right here.  Is that not your X?  Did you not make your X right there, next to your name?"

"Yeah.  So?!?!"

"So, Dany, that means you, me and the new teacher are going to sit down together and try to work things out. Let's see if we can come to what adults call, 'a clearing of the air'.  Do you know what that means, Dany?"

"Yeah.  I'm not stupid!"

"Good, good.  Never said you were." Principal Bryan said.  "Now then, here's how it's going to work, Dany.  The three of us will sit down to talk, just like real adults.  We're going to try very very hard to keep you happy.  But sometimes, you may be asked to do things you may not like to do.  We're sorry but that's ju--"

"NO!  I DON'T WANNA!  I'm special!  I'm better than everybody else!  I feel bad!  I'm cold and hungry!  I WANNA GO TO A NEW SCHOOL!!"

Principal Bryan sighed.  Then he looked at Dany and his tear streaked face.  "No." he said.

"Wha--??  That's...that's not fair!  I wanna new school!" Dany stammered.

Principal Bryan sighed again, this time a little more heavily.  He took his glasses off and laid them gently upon his desk, hoping that was enough to hide his shaking hands.

"No, Dany." he said firmly.  "And I'm not saying it again.  You promised to stay, and stay you will.  I'm sorry if that makes you feel bad."

"And quite frankly, while we're on the subject Dany, I don't give a flying fuck whether you "like" the teacher or not.  He is the teacher.  I hired him.  He did a thousand times better by us than the last two stiffs we're still paying for.  Big whoop if he cut your ice time.  Work harder in practice.  Who cares if he put you on the second power play unit?  I don't.  And in case you didn't notice, our PP ranking went through the fucking roof after he did that.  And if you don't like it, tough shit.  Remember the last piece of shit who pulled this crap on this organization?  You do?  Good.  Now get the fuck out of my office, and go somewhere to grow the fuck up."

And with that, Dany left the office, still feeling bad.

Moral: Grow a set Heatley, and earn that "A" we put on your shoulder.  Oh, and always be nice to your teachers.

To be continued...

The issue isn't Danny, it's Murray. The sens are a sinking ship and he wants off the Titanic before everything goes down.

Clouston won't help the team. they got lucky and turned things on in the last bit because they had nothing to lose and no pressure.

We needa real Coach, and Clouston isn't him.

I hear Carbo is tanned, rested and ready.

Oh, and FHF is prepared to offer Halak, Ryder, O'Byrne and a pick for that miscreant Heatley.

Sorry friend, but I have to disagree. Clouston had them flying all over the ice from the second he got behind the bench. The players got fat and lazy under Paddock and Hartsburg and CiCi changed that. Apparently Dany Boy didn't like the new regime. It's ironic that the only coach of the three who didn't use the word "accountability" in every freaking press scrum, is the only one who actually practiced it.

Is that the kind of player you want on your team, let alone wearing a letter? Really?

Throw in Suban, Price, Mount Royal and a couple of HF29's favourite strippers, and you've got yourself a deal.

What will Heatley get on the trade market? Considering what Hossa, Thornton and others got, I think the Sens could get a young second-line player with lots of upside (someone like Kessel), a prospect and a draft pick.

But if they do trade him, they have to do so before free agency, when teams start getting more and more money locked up in free agents, that means less teams interested and less of a bidding war. Even as it stands, not many teams can afford to take on an extra $7.5 million in salary cap.

I'll go you one better, Tom. If they do trade him, they have to do so before the draft. That L.A. 1st rounder is looking mighty tasty (along with a boat load of players/prospects of course). How about Hedman and Karlsson on the same D? Or (be still my heart) jumping ahead of the Leafs and grabbing Schenn 2.0?
